  1. Hi All,

Most of the Digital Camcorders record a movie in 640 * 480 resolution. I read somewhere that when we transfer a movie from a Digital Camcorder to a computer using Fire Wire port and in DV format, we do not really capture or encode the movie, but just transfer the data from comcorder to the computer. I use Ulead Video Studio to do this but when the movies get to the computer the resolution becomes 720 * 480 still in DV format (13 Gig per hour). How does this transforming from 640 * 480 to 720 * 480 happend? Does it stretch the movie a bit? If the process of transfering a movie from a Camcorder to a computer is not pure "transfering" and those softwares do a similar thing as Video Capture Cards do, Does it still stretch the moie? Thank you in advandce for your help.

Nope, Mini Dv format is 720x480. This is why you see a value of 720x480 in your capture software......

The 640x480 you're talking about must be a mistake. That's probably the size of the digital stills in regards to pixels.
