Hi, I want to transfer my Set Top Box HD (FIOS to be exact) recordings to my mac. Logically I'd like to transfer that to BD to free up space on my computer. I've read that I can transfer the recordings through firewire. ?? My set top box does have a FW port on the back. So how do I do this? Do I need a stand alone software program to make this work?
I was looking at getting the Hauppauge HD PVR but the recordings I am more interested in are sporting events, which are probably coded to prevent me from copying them, so spending $200 on the PVR is probably not the way to go. What do you guys think? Do you think they are protected? That's probably a stupid question. lol I'm just trying to free up space on my DVR. So what are my options? I did look at H VHS but that just seems way too antiquated.
