    I have a dvd that is on region 1 and would like to change it to region2 on PAL could someone help , is it possible to do so and if so HOW????? thanks in advance

  2. Assuming you have a DVD writer. If the disc is DVD-9, just rip the entire disc (file mode in DVD Decrypter or backup mode in smartripper) to your HD. Then run IFOEdit, load the IFO file, click on 'make region free' then burn the disc.

    If the disc is DVD-9, same but have to re-author first. Not that anything you author yourself is region free by default.

    Is this a question about region coding or is it actually about PAL Vs NTSC format, its not clear.

    Hint PAL is used in Europe (region 2) and NTSC is used in the USA (region 1).

    Yes I am in the UK and have a region 1 dvd that won't play so been told to rip it and change it to region 2 and pal

  5. Ok, I didn't read the full message

    There are two things going on here. One is the region the other is the format. A fair number of DVD players will actually play both NTSC and PAL (esp those sold in europe). Some (but not all) TVs will play NTSC or PAL source as well.

    Changing the region is no big deal (see above) changing from NTSC to PAL gets a lot more tricky. What exactly is the problem when you try to play you DVD?
