  1. I just installed Pioneer DVR-A03 DVD-RW on Win 98 SE pc.

Everytime I pop in a disc, whether a cd or dvd it gives blue screen immediately after the disc starts to spin. The VOB-software that came along is removed from the pc but the result is still the same.

Anybody seen this kind of behavior?

  2. Try to remove the driver from the hardware screen. Restart windows. The dvd drive will be detected and installed again.
Also, the drive must be the primary device.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Well, it did help indeed! I'd buy you a beer if you are anywhere near here.

It works now, I can erase DVD-RW and make test burns. I author using SpruceUp and the streams are generated by Canopus Softmpeg.

Yelo 800 plays RW back like a Hollywood blockbuster and the quality is very very good.

    Thanks again!

  4. teljeur.
Pioneer A03 does not have to be the primary drive. I got it as my secondary drive, and it works just fine.

  5. My A03 came configured as Slave. On my 98 SE pc I installed onto same IDE controller together with HP8100, that was configured as Master.

It didn't work (blue screen every time disc was inserted onto Pioneer). I took HP out and put Pioneer back in as Master. It works now, so clearly it's got something to do with Pioneer being a slave, atleast on 98 pc.

  6. Nope.
I have my Pioneer drive as a slave to a Matsushita DVD Rom drive and it works with no problems. It's sitting on a Win98SE PC and works perfectly.

  7. I now use Win2000 and Win98SE dual boot and the drive works perfectly under both operating systems.

If you can use Win2000 do so, not 4Gb file limit and its much more stable.
