So far I've had great results with Maxell 2x DVD-R but I hate the 19.99 price for th 5 pack...I'd like to try new media but don't want to spend another 19.99 for a 5 pack of media that will result in bad burns. Is there a link or somthing that has a list of media that works pretty well with burners like Pioneer or Sony?

Look to your left under DVD Media.

  3. Buy a sample pack from one of the online stores. Then just buy in bulk whichever you like.

I have a Pioneer A05 and have had great results with Apple DVD-Rs. They are $14.99 for 5. They burn at 2x and work in my standalone players. Also, they have 4x for $19.99 for 5 but I have not tried them yet.

That being said, I have had pretty good luck with Princo white tops. I have some that burn at 1x and then some with the TDK ID that burn at 2x. I have never made a coaster and they play fine in my standalone players. I have noticed that they do not work that well in 2 notebook DVD drives however. One notebook is very old so I understand it but the other is a brand new HP. I would think it's drive would read just about anything but it struggles a little with the Princo.

  5. I can definitely say DO NOT GET MEMOREX. I think everybody will agree with me on this one. I have recently settled on Imation. I picked up a few 5 packs on sale at Office Depot this week for $11.86. They have not had any problems so far. I do not know what the regular price is on these though.
