  1. Hi there.

I decided to try out SCMPX and SSRC from within TMPGEnc. Actually, I didn't end up using SSRC because my .wav had already been converted to 44100Hz.

Anyhow, this is the process I used:

    1) Opened the .avi in VirtualDub, set the audio to full processing and set it to convert the audio to 44100Hz, uncompressed. I saved out the .wav (over a Gig).

    2) Added SCMPX and SSRC to the External Tool tab of the Environmental Settings dialog in TMPGEnc.

    3) Chose the .avi for video and .wav for audio in TMPGEnc.

    4) Loaded my standard CVD template and tweaked (changed the bitrate etc...).

    5) Pressed Start and watched while SCMPX created it's temp file and encoded the audio, TMPGEnc encoded the file (actually files, I used two instances of TMPGEnc so I could encode both halves of the movie at once). Once done, I played the files in both Windows Media Player AND Videolan. No problems.

    6) Opened VCDImagerGUI and created the bin/cue files (yes, I did select SVCD).

    7) Opened Fireburner and burned the cd's.

The video looks great, but there is basically no audio. I hear the occasional split second of audio every few seconds or so and that's it.

Just for fun I went back and encoded a small portion of the movie without SCMPX and SSRC and burned it and it played just fine.

The funny thing is, while the videos were encoding I had decided to do some tests of CBR vs. 2-pass VBR and so on. I was still using SCMPX and SSRC. I encoded a short section of the film twice with different settings, burned them on one cd with a menu and they both played fine.

The only other thing that I have recently changed is to set my VBV buffer to 224. I assume though that if that was the problem the video would be screwy as well.

Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    SatoriGFX.

I tried SCMPX and had exactly the same problem, I eventually saw the light and will never walk out on tooLame again.
