  1. Hi,
When backing up a movie that has both wide screen and full screen versions, which one does DVD Decrypter choose while ripping?
I use the guide to make a dual layer DVD fit on a single DVD-R disc.
    DVD Decrypter
    DVD2ONE
    RecordNow

I don't want to be using up valuable space trying to squish both formats on one disc if i don't have to.

try selecting a vob from either group, decrypt for a few seconds of video, and then play it on power dvd,or whatever you use. This will tell you which group of vob's are widescreen, and which are full screen.

Playback with bsplayer(with appropriate filters loaded on your system), select custom pan-scan and you can have both options.

IFOEDIT from the tools page will tell you the aspect ratio of the video in the vobs. Open the DVD's main ifo and check out all of the assets in the vod file and pick out what you need. You can play the DVD and have IFOEDIT tell you what files were used and would need to be copied.

    Great little tool.

I don't make dvd-r yet, but if you use smart ripper it automatically choose the largest file (widescreen)

If you want the full screen you can just highlight the second largest file and in the details window on the left it should read 4:3 (video)

Don't know if I helped or not .
If I were you I'd just use the widescrren format seeing as 4:3 tvs will probably phased out of production.

    Good Luck
