  1. 1. Have converted Xvids to SVCD before with success by following your guides. Been using TMPGEnc v 2.59.47.155 Plus. Problem I am now getting is that the file size exceeds the CD-R capacity.
I am confident that I have marked/unmarked some option which is causing this problem. I recently download loaded Scooby Doo. Size 716MB 480X352 23.096fps, CBR 1150, 48000 Hz. Using Virtual Dub I split the file in half. Files now about 42 mins long. Size 335 Mbs.
Have converted this size to SVCD before with no problems.
Using TMPGEnc wizard I choose SuperVideo CD, NTSC Film
In Advanced section choose..Full Screen (keep aspect ratio).
On page 4/5 of the wizard it has the new file size 1538Mb being 211% of CD-R 74min disk capacity. CBR is 1600. I think the CBR is too large. Tried changing it to 1150 but always returns to this number.

Can someome tell me what I need to do to get the SVCD file size down.

    2. Another question which might be the problem with the first question is converting an avi to SVCD where the frame sizes are different.
    a. Scooby Doo is 480X352 23.976 fps
    b. Lord of the Rings 640X272 23.976 fps
    c. Space 608X336 25 fps
Choosing SVCD, NTSC Film has 480X480 29.97 fps
Should I match the SVCD specs with the AVI specs? If so how?

    Thanks

SVCD should always be 480x480 for NTSC.

You might've multiplexed for files wrongly as bad multiplexing can make a file the wrong size such as 1 or 2 gigabytes.

You could try bbMPEG to multiplex your file again. :P

Demultiplex - seperating the Audio stream and Video stream of a MPEG or AVI system file.

Multiplex - Combining Audio stream and Video stream files together to make a Mpeg or AVI system file.
May the force be with you.

  11. found a reference to change the 'directshow multimedia file reader'.
TMPGEnc...Option...Environmental settings...VFAPI plug-in....right click 'Directshow Multimedia File Reader' and increase priority to 1 or 2.
    Everything working fine.
Thanks to everyone for their help.
