  1. I realised some mpeg1 system streams using ffmpeg and vcd default settings, but I can't manipulate in any way the audio track. That is, QuickTime player can play audio track, but I can't export it to .mov or any other format. I neither can work with FinalCut 3, when I import my .mpg file it doesn't recognize the audio track. Why? Is there a way to work with .mpg files?

In order to work with the audio you'll first have to demux the mpeg. Missing MPEG Tools can do this I do believe.

  3. I also tried this, but FinalCut says "wrong file type"... I can't believe that FC doesn't work with mpeg 1 or 2 video...

I believe Toast Titanium and iTunes can work with MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio files (the kind of audio required in the VCD standard). To manipulate the audio, it must be converted to .AIFF first.

iTunes plays them perfect, you can also convert them to mp3 using iTunes. I think Missing MPEG Tools will convert the MPEG Layer 2 audio to wav and back again. Quicktime accepts .wav files I do believe, and will allow you to convert it to .aiff, which Missing MPEG Tools also accepts to convert back to mpeg audio.

  6. There are many possibilities to convert mpeg audio to aiff, wav and so on. But what about working DIRECTLY with mpeg? I still hope Apple does support fully mpeg streams
