    I have used Virtualdub for 3 previous captures and it worked fine, but the last VHS capture has a white band through the entire captured avi. What could have changed? I didn't make any changes to the settings that I'm aware of ....

    Sounds like a macrovision issue, maybe try a tape that you know for sure has no copy protection.

    Hmmm .... possibly. I may have to find one of those "Macrovision" pieces of hardware that strips the signal. This white band is the same white band that I see at both the beginning and the end of each capture done with Virtualdub.... only this time it runs through the whole movie! I couldn't find anything about it at Virtualdubs site ...
