I am pretty sure, the resolution of the divx does not matter.
If TMPG reports "..can not open or unsupported", you have to install the proper codec.

Can you play the divx with windows media player? If yes, OK. If not, you have to install the divx codec, that was used to compress the avi.
In TMPG select option> enviromental setting > VFAPI and set Direct show multimedia file reader to highest priority.
You can encode avi with any resolution to mpeg. All what you have to do, is to resize as I said above.
If TMPG still not open the file, it is probably corrupt.
Then check the tool section for DivXfix or something like that.

Is the audio simply not matching the video or is the video/audio faster than audio/video?
Did you notice that, when playing the MPEG or when playing the AVI?

  10. in the avi
    the audio is okay
    all is good

in the mpg i made the audio is faster than the video i think
it is like the audio start plauying a littel before the video and it keeps that way all movie long (((

    but only in the mpg!!!

the downloadet avi is 100 % okay

    what can i do???

When you use TMPGenc are you "loading" a VCD template. Also have you scanned the AVI's for bad frames ?

If the AVI is playing without problems, then converting to VCD.mpeg using a template in TMPGEnc will cause no problems, unless the AVI has bad frames.

Use "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" to scan AVI for bad frames.

Any suggestions on what filters and "soften block noise" settings could be used to reduce the blocks?
