  1. First, I must say that I've been following the development of forty-two since the begining and think it's one awesome piece of software. I'm using it to mainly backup my kids DVDs so they can watch the SVCDs and not scratch up the originals.

But, in this process I've found that even though Kai has fixed the spaces in the path names another space bug remains. If I try to convert a DVD with spaces in the name as it appears on the desktop, it won't accept the discs. I'm using v1.5 and when I drag "Monsters, Inc." or "Spy Kids 2" from the desktop to the DVD spot it rejects it then says it's prescanning, but doesn't seem to do anything.

I don't know who you are, but i could HUG YOU for this ONE PIECE OF INFO that has eluded us forever

Now people, you know why i dispise sh*tty dvd authoring. That is sooooo illegal its not funny. a dvd player wouldn't care, but certain software stuff (like ours) might.

We'll see what we can do about this.

Does anyone ELSE have dvds with spaces in the name that hange at prescanning?

  7. Scratch my above comment about SWII,

it seems that forty-two is taking it today. In two days i will let you know if it burns a svcd better than Jurassic Park .

  8. DAMN!

I accidentally used V.1 and not V1.5 and thats why it accepted SWII

Still forty-two v1.5 will not accept SWII it just spits it out after a min of prescan and the program crashes.

Your problem could lie in the fact that it sounds like you still have the old version installed.

I remember the "READ ME" saying DELETE ALL FOURTY-TWO old files before installing the newer version.

I have never had any problems, with names with spaces or names with out spaces

I have does SWII and others like Men In Black II and Divine Secrets Of The Ya Ya Sisterhood (which has the most spaces for a dvd i think!!!0
    All beautiful!!!

try trashing all your forty-two;'s and reinstall v1.5 and see if the problem still exists

Are the titles you tried have spaces as they appear on the Desktop? Most movie titles has underlines at where the spaces are when they show up on the Desktop. But some don't, and that's where the problem is.

By the way, I did a clean install before I tried.

DVDs with spaces will not be accepted into the program at all with 1.5, its a bug that has been fixed, but we havent released a fix yet. It will still say processing... and all that stuff but it just doesnt accept the dvd. It has been addressed but im not certain how soon we'll be able to release a fix.

I know this sounds strange, but it worked for me. I was having this problem on a certain DVD (don't remember which one, maybe Almost Famous), and I found that if I kept trying by re-launching 42 after it quits, it eventually just... works.

What constitutes "trashing the old files" before I can reinstall 42?

    Thanks.
