Hello Guys. I'm trying to put this movie that's on 2 discs onto 1 DVR using DVD2ONE. I followed Hex's advice from another post. Here is a brief summary:
1) Rip all files to hard drive from discs into same folder
2) Rename files so they have same vts #
eg. vts_01_01, vts_01_02, vts_01_*.*
3) Delete all IFO and BUP files
4) Open IFOedit and Make New IFO (select first vob and let it process)
I did this by clicking on the button"create ifos" and loaded just the first .vob file into there. It took like 1/2 hr to process the 13 .vob files and it had created new .ifo and .bup files. (however, I never had any .bup files initially from the original rip... don't know if that makes a diff). To be precise, the 4 files it created were 1) VIDEO_TS.BUP 2) VIDEO_TS.IFO 3) VTS_01_0.BUP and 4) VTS_01_0.IFO
Then, I started up DVD2ONE and gave it a source and destination directory. It showed me that the movie was 38 chapters and 3:20:23 approx(can't remember exactly) and it started its work. Like 1 and 1/2 hrs later, it was done and I tested it out in PowerDVD by "loading a DVD from HDD". I just loaded VIDEO_TS.IFO and it started playing, but it only had upto the end of the first disk... like 34 chapters or something.
Did I miss something here? Would someone please be able to instruct me on the right way to create ifos using IFOedit if I did something wrong. I was at this website that had a guide. However, it was a little confising for a newbie like me when it comes to nfos and vobsThanks a lot.

just one thought: Why would you that?? this movie is very long and you will end up with a nice screen full of big pixels...

I'm not sure why it stopped at the 2nd disc. I will have to get the movie and play around with it. The vts numbering is actually vts_01_1 etc... Try burning the movie on a RW and then playing it to see if there is a smooth transition between movies. Let me know if it works out. Oh by the way Neoh, he asked How to do it so unless you have something to contribute besides stuff he's already thought of then STFU!

Hey Hex. Thanks for replying. i did burn it onto a RW and it stopped after the first disc exactly like with PowerDVD on the PC
SO now I don't know what to do. Any help from you would be really appreciated.
Neoh:
WHY? Because I want to! To put it simply! You're right, the quality isn't that great to start with. HOWEVER, the reencoded version is EXCELLENT, relatively speaking ofcourse. Why wouldn't I want to do it? I save $5 CDN for the 2nd DVD-R and the bother of having to switch the disc everytime I watch the Godfather... not a big deal.. but cool to know anyways
Thanks guys.

Bombart,
I was able to combine three dvds into one dvd-r by doing exactly what you did. I also had the same problem with the disc stopping at the end of the first movie. Here is what I did to finally make it work.
After IFOEDIT creates the IFO and BUP files, I clicked on VOB EXTRAS. I ran through this step and let it create new vobs and new IFO and BUP files. I think this process lets it fix any problems that DVD2ONE might have. Then, I click on GET VTS SECTORS on the IFO files. Finally I ran DVD2ONE and let it do its thing.
I hope this helps. If you need more clarifation let me know.

jcuervo811: Thanks for your reply... I'm gonna try it RIGHT NOW
I'll post my results soon.
Cheers.

jcuervo811: I tried what you suggested last night and when I woke up this morning and checked, I knew it was gonna be the same. DVD2ONE had only done 70% of the job and it had popped up a message saying that it was complete. So, when loading the files into DVD2ONE, the it recognizes the fact that there are 38 chapters in all and the running time is 3:20:03. But then, it stops at 70% and tells me that it's complete.
ANY HELP??
CHeers.

the first thing you did was good, but did you run the GET VTS LAST SECTOR?? and don't forget to first close then reopen IFOEdit.
[-Neoh*-]|[-Cheers-] -
Close and reopen?? I've never been doing that! MAN, I'M VERY CONFUSED NOW!!
Would you please please be able to give me the steps in order, including closing and reopening PLEASE!! I've spent so much time on this to no avail and I'm sure it's because I'm not doing something at all or just not in the right order!
I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT!! Thanks.

ok here are the steps but it is theoretical, someone that has done that should confirm.
After reenconding, get all VTS_01 vobs only to a folder.
for DVD 2 rename VTS_01 vobs to VTS_02 and copy them to that folder.
Run IFOedit to build a new IFO.
Close IFOedit
Open IFOediit and click GET VTS LAST SECTOR.
Check with PowerDVD or an other prog to see if it works.[-Neoh*-]|[-Cheers-] -
I think you should look at this post:
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=141595
ezekiel999 mentions that there is a 10 vob limit(I'm guessing this is a limit placed on all dvds by the dvd authoring standard??)-which meant he had to join his last 2 vobs into 1 single vob. I believe you said that you ended up with 13 vobs. I think you'll need to combine a few of these to get the number down to 9 or 10. I believe that a vob file is automiatically created by ifoedit as the menu file-which means you can only have 9 vobs. Anyway, I hope this helps.
Good Luck-

10 VOB limit is for DVD9's, and if you think about it it makes sense(4 1 GB VOB's and 1 short VOB is all a 4.7 GB disk can hold, not counting a bunch of little VOB's).
So what to do? VOB's don't have to be 1 GB, hint hint. Rip them as 2 GB, or 1 VOB/Disk like I do ( aint NTFS grand? )To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Thanks for the info about the merging guys... I'll try it and then post results here.
Cheers.
