I have a very weak processer, but plenty of hard disk and memory, and its taking me about 10-12 hours per hour of video, ripped from DVD using TMPGEnc. What I'm wondering is, can I adjust certain settings to speed up the process even a little? Without effecting the finished product too much?

Also, what is the acceptable mpeg audio quality? What quality do you folks use most of the time. Is it okay to go under 128 kbs?

I just completed the first half of my DVD Rip, and it looks as good or better then most of the DVD rips I already have. I impressed with the DVD RIP guide on this sight. Its a very simple to understand, and easy to use tutorial. The only thing I'd like to see is more detailed information about the settings of encoders. I'm kind of lost trying to figure out the proper settings using TMPGEnc. I understan that the settings depend on whats being ripped etc, but even a general guideline to follow would be helpful.

    Aloha,
    MJ

    Thanks

  2. Hi ps6f
You just have to read the guides, and search the forums. There are plenty of opinions as to how to get the best quality in the quickest time.
wrt settings in TMPGenc for every argument for a particular setting there is usually an equal argument against !
Its very subjective and in the end its all down to what works best for you.
It looks like you seem pleased with your quality so far, and i wouldn't suggest dropping down below 128k for your audio. You would gain a small amount of space for additional bitrate within the movie, but save very little on encoding time.
    Good luck !
