Ever since Friday I've been having endless problems with TMPGEnc. First I had the issue where the entire file would encode, but when I went to play it, the video would freeze 3 seconds in and the sound would keep going.

Next I had the error messages problem. Got messages like "A read error occured at xxxxxx at module kernal32.dll at xxxxxx" and "failed to refer to tab no. 0", and one thats much like the first error except it says write error instead of read error. These messages appeared (and still do appear) at various points. At first they would come up after selecting my encode settings. Now I get them when I try to start an encode, but thats only if tmpgenc actually starts - usually I get the read error message and it refuses to open.

In addition to that, the PC has started (in the event I can actually get an encode working) to not run anything else while TMPGEnc is encoding. That is, my other programs sort-of freeze until tmpgenc is closed. They don't actually stop responding, they just... get delayed from doing anything further until tmpgenc is closed. This never used to happen, I've always been able to do other things while encoding. And yes, I've checked the settings for encode priority to ensure its set to idle time only when not active.

I have formatted my Harddrive, and that didn't help. Still got the same problems immediately after the format, which leads me to believe it may be a problem with my actual hardware.

I've made a couple of topics about this already, but they only covered the first and second problem, not the third, and I didn't get an answer, so I combined all my problems into 1.

What should I do? I have 4 movies sitting here waiting to be converted to SVCD and I can't do it

When you re-formatted, did you do a fresh OS install too?

    Of course I did.

I don't see how else I could get an OS onto a blank drive

You've got two hard drives but didn't say which one you'd formatted.

Well, strangely enough the problem *seems* to be gone. I just booted my PC, TMPGEnc opened fine, pumped out no errors, enode started fine, its sofar been going for a half hour or so, and hasn't slowed my PC to a crawl. Looks like its back to normal ... I hope.
