Stupid Newbie question about editing captured video

ok, this has gotten be a lame question, so forgive me for it, but i've tried several different apps including Tmpenc, and Ulead Video Studio 6, because I want to edit my captured video (such as deleting certain parts, not just begining or end or whatever), and for whatever reason, i can not not seem to figure this out. If i editr anything, and do a delete of a certain scene, it will delete the entire movie itself.

ANyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

What guide did you use to edit with TMPGEnc, and did you use the tutorial on the Ulead web site to learn how to edit in Video Studio 6?

since it is captured it should be avi so you should download VirtualDub and try this guide not sure if it works just found it a minute ago http://www.technosoft2000.co.uk/divx/cuttinginvd.htm

Not necessarily, Ghoster. There are applications that can capture in AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, etc.
