    Hi All,

After two weeks trying to get my Vitec DCM running perfectly and several weeks reading about other mpeg2 capture card: Is there any mpeg2 capture board that works?

    Regards,

well your question was a bit broad
but putting on my flame proof hat

I have always had very good results with a Dazzle DVC II
this changed to excellent results when I started using it with Bugsy front-end

I can't cap Mpeg1 without locking up - but it does Mpeg2 so well that I don't really want to cap mpeg1 anymore

    Thanks!

Can you capture using the Dazzle DVC II at high bitrates? Can you capture at 352x480@4500 bitrate?

  4. i've found that like everything the more you pay the better it gets, though for some reason mpeg-2 encoder cards are very problematic and i've never had one running 100% smoothly

  5. I use the canopus dvstorm 2 plus never any trouble or problems but you to capture mpeg2 you need alot of harddrive space, & memory. I use to use the ati all in wonder radeon it produced good results but nowhere near the quality of the storm!

    I have a Dazzle2 PCI running on a AMD K6-3 500 win2k with 128 MB RAM.
Runs great with TWNH, can capture at 720x480x8000 or 352x480x7000 with no problems.

  7. I have been using the ATI AIWonder Radeon 7500 and DVD workshop to capture in MPEG-2. I have been backing up all of my old VHS tapes so quality is not great, but when I captured some DV footage it turned out awesome looking when played back on my DVD player.

sorry for the delay in getting back to you

    as draganong said
the DVC II caps high bitrates quite comfortably
and if you turn off the video preview- you get background capturing at around 5-10% cpu usage and almost 0% problems such as audio sync

I used to use TWNH but found bugsy better option wise - especially using the tweaked drivers - I can cap over 4 hours without issues
I cap to seperate video and audio and then mux in TMPEGenc - takes a minute or so
    and then burn! easy

    Hi D_Knife,

Were you able to play that DVD perfectly in several DVD Players?

With the terrible experience I had with Vitec DCM I want to be sure about my next buy, sorry for the questions...

The Vitec DCM files played perfectly in a Sony and Jerky in a Panasonic and the ones created with MainConcept played perfectly o both!

    Regards,
    Jose Febus

    Hi preacher238,

I think I will buy the 7500. But before I do, do you know if there is a site where I can download a mpeg captured by this card?

What about the quality of your VHS captures? Are they similar to the VHS quality?

    Regards,
    Jose Febus
