  1. Hello,

I have finally backed up my first DVD, but when I came to burn it with RecordMax it takes 70 mins with my Pioneer 105 4x speed writer.

I am using Bulkpaq 2x speed Generation 4 DVD-R disk, which I thought might take 30mins but over 70mins is beyond a joke.

I am a newbie at burning DVD's so could someone please advise me what I am doing wrong.

    Thanks,

    Le Monkey.

  3. Burning at 1x speed yes it can take alittle over an hour burning a full disc of 4.36 Gigs

    --------------------Help---------------

Scandisc and Defrag your HD, buy beter media like FujiFilm or Maxell.

If your burner has a hard time recognizing the media and the source during a burn it will take longer.

  5. Damn it !

I enabled DMA through POWER DVD XP and it still takes as long.

I am going to buy better DVD-R media, see if that helps.

Can anyone recommend any which work particularlly well with the Pioneer Writer 105.

    Thanks,

    Le Monkey

  6. Not familiar with your sw, but When you are writing via your regular burning SW, does it specify burn speed options (DOes it say 4x, 2x, or 1x). It may be that your media is not being recognized as 4x or 2x, and if recognized as 1x that would explain why it would take so long. And it could be that your software is set for the slower speed even if it can go higher?

On Roxio, I put my Imation 1x in and it only gives me 1x as an option, I put in TDK 2x and it gives me 1x or 2x as an option.

Have you applied the latest firmware, v1.21 I believe that may be an issue. Also download any SW patches for your burner SW, may think it is the slower 104 instead of 105, etc.

Lots of possibilites, but upgrade all firmware or SW is a must.

As a test, try a different media in the same SW and/or download an eval copy of another SW and see if it burns 1x. May be time for different media or SW?

A05 has a problem burning anything at 2x and 4x speed at the moment thanks to their crappy Firmware!!!

I did get it to burn 2x speed with a 4x Verbatium DVD-R. Some people have gotten the A05 to write at 4x speed but not me.
