  1. I have followed the directions for creating a vcd and svcd still disc using vcdeasy. The images work great...but i can not navigate with the remote once i am playing/watching the disc. Instead I am forced to sit through the time alotted for each image.

Am I missing something? I tried using the arrow/nav keys usually used in dvd menus and also the next chapter/previous chapter buttons. No Dice.

    thanks-

  2. Some DVD players (notably the LG player my brother owns) do not have Play Back Control (PBC) enabled by default. Check the setup menu for your player and see if there is an option here.

Also when creating the VCD you need to enable PBC.

  3. thought that i did all of that. my new panasonic dvd says PBC on the front when the disk is in. Vcdeasy says PBC is on. I even give it different parameters like where to go when the last image is shot, etc.

    ?

  4. There must be something odd about how you have built your disk. I own a panasonic DVD player (different model to you) and all this works fine.

If you would like build a VCD that does not work in your player and then let me have a look at the xml file generated. It may be a simple problem in your usage of VCDEasy. If so a look at the xml will show it. You are welcome to e-mail it to me at cmacleo1@bigpond.net.au

If the xml shows nothing my conculsion is your player is faulty. Do you have a copy of Nero and have built a VCD using it, with a menu? A demo version is available from theri web site. If the Nero disk does not work then this is showing that your player is the culprit.

  5. i do have nero. it came with my burner.

thanks for the help. I will send you the file, and also try nero again.

    Thanks

  6. Just to confirm my research.... if you create a basic stills VCD (using VCD easy and the guide), then navigation is limited to next/prev functionality? You can't jump straight to say image 1234 by using the numeric buttons on the remote?

VCD's and SVCD/CVD's allow for the following types of navigation:

    NEXT,
    PREVIOUS,
RETURN (which could be analogous to Web BACK button),
DEFAULT (usually mapped to DVD players' PLAY button-but not always),
    TIMEOUT (when applicable),
    MULTI-DEFAULT (when applicable), and
    NUMERIC KEYS -- 0...99

So, you could map individual pix--1 to each number--ignoring your menu and submenu stills. This would really only work well if your list of pix was less than 100. Or you could map picture groups to submenus and make your NUMERIC keys navigate quickly throught the menu tree until you get to the final group of pix. This would allow for much more pix to be accessed.

    Scott
