I need a good way to estimate the file size when using 2pass VBR. If I use a standard bitrate calculator and plug that number into the avg. kbps field will I get an accurate file size? I can't use the TMPGEnc wizard because it won't allow estimation for 2pass VBR. I encoded two, similar lenght movies in 2pass VBR, with similar values and one movie was 1.3 gig., while the other was 935mb. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!!!![]()

The file size estimator works fine in my version of Tmpgenc. Just select the type of disc you have (in the box) and adjust the average bitrate accordingly. Maybe you didn't input the disc type?

The bitrate calculators should be fine for either CBR or multiple pass VBR. They will not work for CQ_VBR thou.
As to why you got a 1.3gb vs. 985mb file??? I have no idea. I know that some recent (but not the newest) verisons of TMPGenc had a bug that if you were encoding MPEG1 the bitrate would be 1150kbit/s (VCD whitebook) no matter what you entered. But that wouldn't explain your results.
