    I have downloaded a film in this dv format. When loaded into TMpeg I get a black screen with no sound. Can anyone help me with this.

    I believe that you need to install the Canopus DV codec (see the Tools section).

    I've tried that. At first I got nothing then after i installed the codec I got the black screen. I'm was hoping that I've missed something simple but as I've discovered since trying this encoding thing. Nothing is simple

    In TMPGEnc settings, change the priority of the AVI decoders. There are 3 default decoders that can read AVI files, and changing the priority will force TMPGEnc to favor one over the other. Also, some decoders works faster than others. If you're not successful, then convert the Canopus file to type-2 DV.
