  1. Hi,

I am in UK and would really appreciate help from any quarter on this issue.

Has anyone captured from a Video cassette recorder via the S-Video ports using the new ALL in Wonder Cards (AIW 9700/ AIW 9000 etc )based on the Theater 200 chipset? Is it better than than rage theater or the bt978 capturing which were on the older ati boards?

Any UK or US chaps know the answer to my next question!

If I buy an All in wonder VE PCI card (the new one) from the states which is obviously with a NTSC tuner, can I capture UK PAL format VHS using my PAL VCR on it. I've been told

    " THEATER 200 supports:
Composite, S-Video, and Component (including High definition) video inputs
    Universal formats:
    NTSC North America and Japan
    PAL I, B, G, H, M, D, N
    SECAM D, K, L, B, G
Support for multiple inputs: NTSC North America and Japan
    PAL I, B, G, H, M, D, N "

I'm not intersted n the TV tuner compatibilty but just the capture facilty via the SVideo ports.

    Thanks guys....

  2. afaik there is pretty much no diff between the (all)PAL modes and the UK is pal B. sounds like you should be alright. The only thing you probably need is a s-video to scart lead £7.99 from maplins. Oh and you WILL be charged VAT by customs ... probably ...

AFter reading this post they will be watching for your package from the states

  5. I'd very much doubt if buying a card from the USA will do you any good. The problem is that your VCR is probably outputting PAL60 and not pure NTSC.

I've had a learning curve in this so you might want to refer to my posts on the forum. Just look for the following link:-
