Please help a newbie and tell me how I can verify the speed my Sony 500a is writing various media? I have seen various posts where people state that certain media is burning at 2x or 2.4x, and they usually reference NERO. I do not have Nero, and all the software that came with the drive does not seem to have a utility to do this.
Is there a FREE way to determine how fast my drive is writing?
Thanks!

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder
Then click on "show single recorder speed" and change the value
I'm not sure if it's a 0 or 1 you change it to, but since their's only 2 options, change it to the other number
If it's a 0, change it to a 1 and vice versa.
