To convert a 640x272, 25fps avi to an svcd (using the header trick), do I have to change the frame rate to 23.976? Should I resize it to 720x480, or should I leave both as is? I'm using TMPGEnc, with '3:2 pulldown' unchecked & 'do not frame rate conversion' unchecked.
Thanks,
Chris

You've started with a PAL film.
So conversion depends on where u are chris, and the capability of the hardware u use. I live in UK and have a dvd player that happily plays ntsc films, but tv will not accept the input so only get shit b/w picture, I have to stick with pal format . What output u looking for? svcd pal or svcd ntsc? if your outside Europe it will probably be ntsc, but if your in Europe then you might not need to convert at all (25fps = pal)you know it's the anti-Midas touch when all you touch goes to shit.............. -
U might want to use the TMPGenc wizard unless your sorting the bitrate to fit a long film on one cd. for svcd it will end up 480*480 at 29.97fps for ntsc (352*240 for vcd) . the res of 720*480 is for ntsc dvd films, not for svcds. The TmpGenc wizard will sort it automatically though. Iv'e done loads of conversions the other way, and have needed to do framerate conversion (therefore leaving do not do framerate conversion unchecked)
you know it's the anti-Midas touch when all you touch goes to shit.............. -
