I'm having trouble with my Wharfedale M5 and the store have very kindly offered to take it back.
I have 80 blank ritek dvd-r's and want to ensure I buy a new standalone dvd player which will play them fine.
So, is anyone using the ritek brand (they have dvd-recordable.net in the middle) and if so what player are you playing them on?
Many thanks,
Will

I live in the UK and have 6 different types or makes of DVD player and have had no problems with them at all. Quite a few of my friends have got the Wharfdale model and they've had no probs with them either. If you want to sell them and try some different ones, I'll buy them off you!

I just bought 3 lots of twenty disks on ebay for £20.99 (for each 20) plus shipping.
What are you paying?

Don't sell you RITEK blanks - they are fast becoming as hard to find as a virgin in a whooore house
The RITEK blanks work perfectly in the M5 (not sure what model of wharfedale you have) but it maybe the software you are using to create the files in the first place.
RITEK disks were being sold for 89p each at http://www.121cdr.co.uk/ but they are very hard to find now (annoying since they were a lot cheaper than the expensive TDK etc but used the same dye for the disks).
Good luck for future burns.

I know it isn't my software as I've tried three different ways and all the disks I've done play perfectly on all my friends machines.
I think this is what is happening...
I read a lot about people finding the dvd's they create stutter, but only at the end.
I've been creating a few and to check them I scan to the end of the movie, (on SWE2 paragraph 50 or 51 for instance) and find it stutters.
I have a few friends with all sorts of dvd players and two other friends with the same M5 as me - they report no problems either.
I'm embarrassed to admit I've been so busy I haven't actually watched a full movie all the way through yet
Anyway, I range Tesco who have said that if a lens cleaner process (Scotch cd-rom) thing doesn't work they'll give me a full refund (£160-ish), which is jolly nice of them as it's around 18 months old.
Thanks for the tip on keeping the media, as I've already bought a new dvd player (a recommendation from vcdhelp.com and the guy who sold me the ritek disks - the Umax Yamada DVD-2100 - £65.00!) I'm sure they'll be fine!
(I bought the dvd player from 121cdr.co.uk ironically enough!)
All the best,

Tesco didn't give me a refund, they brought me a brand new Wharfedale M5 which is also perfect and is on the market if anyone's interested!
The Yamada is by no means the best built machine, but for the price is a superb buy.
