  1. Just installed and playing around. Can someone tell me about which codescs they are having success with? The DirectShow ones seem to work the best but I can't get Windows media version 8 or 9 to work even though I have windows media encoder 9 installed. Which audio codecs workl best with TMPGenc? Thanks. If I used iuVCR it will be to make an avi file then TMPGenc encode it to VCD.

I was at another forum last night and found this information regarding Microsoft Windoz Media verion 8 or 9 CODECS and Vegas Video 3. Maybe this will help you find the codecs and get them working

    -------------
I just bought a laptop and installed Vegas Video 3. Capture, render, PTT
all appear to work fine. I then attempted to render to WMV but all the drop
down boxes were EMPTY. I then downloaded the WM8 and WM9 codecs from:
    www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

After installing both the wm8 and wm9 codecs, I tried Vegas and the boxes
are still empty. I then rebooted, tried Vegas again and the boxes are still
    empty.

Any ideas as to what I need to do to get Vegas to see the WM8 and WM9 codecs?
    --------------
I already had wmfdist2.exe downloaded so I ran it. I now have names in the
dropdown boxes although I don't appear to have the "8.1" names for WM9
listed. I'll go back to Microsofts website and see if they have a newer
    version of wmfdist available.
    ------------
Found another site about problems with Windows Media and Version 9 with
things not playing right etc - and they gave these links.

    http://www.tricerasoft.com/downloads/WMFADist.exe

Personally I think this is pretty sad the Sonic Foundry and Microsoft can't
give you straight answers on this problem. In fact - when I solved this
previously I made a point of responding to Sonic Foundry with what I did so
they could post it somewhere but obviously they didn't.
