I got a surprise of a messenger service popup ad a little while ago. I haven’t seen one since I got a firewall installed a few months ago and now it is back.

The popup ad was about GOLARGER - #1 MALE ORGAN ENLARGEMENT supplement for the web.

This ad is very sneaky finding a way through a firewall and I want to know how they got into my computer? It supposed to be blocked and I want to know which port they used?

The spammers are very rude and very intrusive getting into my computer. How dare they get into my computer without my permission? I tell them to get out of my e-mail address and now out of my PC.

So, this is what I’ve done and the only way to stop them is to disable the messenger service using Windows 2000. I don’t use the service anyway.

Check out on how to configure: http://www.orc.ca/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=65

Or just disable the service on most boxes, since very few people have use for that service.

Also there are ways to uninstall XP's annoying MSN Messager (which is different then the message service) out there also...

I remember WinXP's Messenger as so annoying and Microsoft keeps on reminding me of the service and updates with the popups on the desktop even though I don't want it and use it.

I don't think you can uninstall WinXP's Messenger and just hide it or disable it. I am not sure what I did to stop it. Somehow it was stopped.

Unfortunately, some of the applications by default in WinXP you can’t remove or disable. You just the minimize or hide. This is all I could do.

RealOne player’s “Message Center” is another annoyance, again I can’t remove the service even though I don’t want it and use it. The firewall stops these messages coming through and generally they are Real Network’s junk info and advertising.
