    Hi all,

I have a 350MHz, AMD 350K2 processor, 80G HDD. I currently have an ATI All-in-wonder card. Current captures produce massive frames losses and on playback the video is lagging audio by about 2secs.

I have upgraded the DMA settings using an additional IDE controller. On capturing the processor is runnung beloiw 10%. I am assuming the processor oin the card is doing most of the capturing. My thoughts arethat the video card is old, less memeory and slower processor.

Q1. Am I right and should I upghrade the video card?

Q2. What is the best card for external video capture, both analogue and digital later?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. If you said you want to capture vhs, i think you want capture an analog signal, so i thing one of the best are pinacle dc30 or pinacle cd 10 plus, cheaper.

    Look for Pinnacle.

I have a pinacle dc 10 since 6 years, and to capture vhs or svhs is fantastic.

  4. hi fiiido,
i suggest you to provide more info about your capturing experiments, so people can give you more hints.
i tell you this because i've used an aiw 128 agp 32 till 1 month ago and i was pretty satisfied with it, of course i couldn't push it to the limit, because of limitation of processor and other stuff.
you should tell: operating system, amount of ram, software used for capturing, resolution, compression and bitrate used, audio card.
maybe people in this great site can give you some hints to obtain good captures without changing your card.
    wish you luck, jeremy.
