I'm a total newbie to capturing, but I just got the ATI TV Wonder VE card and had some questions
I'd like to capture TV shows and burn them to DVD in the future (as I dont have a DVD burner at the moment)
There are a lot of different options available for capture quality. I was wondering what the best option would be to maintain the highest quality for when i burn them to DVD, but still a rather small size so I can store a large number of shows untill I am able to purchase the DVD burner.
I thought maybe it would be smart to capture them at the highest quality and then covert them to a smaller format, like Divx and then convert them back when i get the burner.
As I said, im kinda new at this so if I said somthing stupid, go easy
thanks

The TV Wonder VE was my first capturecard and it makes a decent 352x240,3000kbps MPEG-1 capture which is fine for computer viewing or to later make a low resolution DVD.You might want to capture using PowerVCR as it allows capturing at 720x480.When you do get a DVD writer definately get a full version of TMPGEnc and/or a quality authoring program.
