The problem is that PowerVCR loses sound if I close it and then restart it. If I reboot, I get sound again. I'm using an ATI TV Wonder VE card running under Win2k. I've tried to contact CyberLink but have not got a response. I've tried every setting I can find. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe I need to try new drivers or something? I've found similar posts but no answers, so it must be a fairly common problem. Surely someone's found a solution.
Thanks,
Jason

I have not found a fix yet but I don't have to re-boot. If I open any of the files I just captured eith PowerVCRII with media player and then re-open PVCRII then there is no sound. I close PVCRII, open the ATI MMC piece of crap software, listen and the sound is there, close it, then open PVCRII again and the sound is back.

I actually fixed this problem myself last night. I downloaded the generic driver from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/
I followed the installation instructions and everything worked fine. I did have to change the tuner once so the channels would lineup right but that's it. For the TV Wonder VE card I have the tuner was the Phillips option that had (002) in front of it. -
I found out a workaround. Switch your connector to S-Video and you should hear the sound come back. Switch back to the regular setting. It works with me when I use the Composite setting.

I have a similar problem. I have an AMD Duron 650 with on board audio AC(97) and an ATI TV wonder VE with MMC 7.1.
I opened the PowerVCRII live viewer and watched some tv then closed it. Later I set the timer to record Odyssey 5. When I checked on the capture later on, the video was there but no sound. I opened the live viewer again and no sound. I tried to open the MMC7.1 tv tuner from ATI but it wouldn't open saying some other program was in use such as DVD player or Web TV.
I never lost any other audio on my system as when I minimize or maximize a window, it makes the usual sounds. I played an mp3 and it was fine.
When I rebooted, everything was fine. But when I looked at my settings in PowerVCR and closed that window, I lost the audio again.
I tried those btwincap drivers at sourceforge before when I wasn't having any luck with Virtual VCR but it messed up my system so I had to uninstall them and reinstall ATI's wdm drivers.
A friend just gave me an old JVC vcr that can't play videos but the tv tuner works. Maybe I will set it up and use it to connect to the composite input of my TV Wonder VE card and audio direct to the line in of the on board sound (although I don't see how this is much different as the TV Wonder card sends the sound out to the line in jack as well)
Anybody with any other solutions.
