Bought a new DVR-104 and with it a blank DVD-RW to test burns on.
I did a full erase using RecordNow DX 4.11 after unwrapping DVD-RW (as recommended by Pioneer before use). The Full erase only went for about 1 second. I then tried to burn a PS2 game to it but it failed with a error 10 from memory after about 1 minute. After this I tried to do another full erase to start again, but all kinds of weird things started happening. The DVD burner no longer recognises the disc and it would not eject. I had to re-boot to get disc out. I tried the same thing with Nero 5.5.9.17 and same thing happened.
Is it possible I got a bad disc from Pioneer or could i have done something to it. All I did was what I have stated above. Nothing more.

    Many Thanx

well firstly the full erase only went for about 1 second, so it couldn't have done much. Secondly, it is recommended on Pioneers website to do a full erase before using DVD-RW media.

So how can the disc be bought back to life????

    Cheers

I find it hard to believe how any erase whether full or quick can stuff up DVD-RW media. Isn't that what they are designed for??? To be erased???

i never erased one before using it .. and ive used plenty -- maybe i should have for some unknown reason ..

i have had them not work from time to time and i just put them in the sun for a day (depends on temp of course) ... 50 - 75% of the time they work again .. sometimes they melt and sometimes they dont work at all ever again --- throw away ..

I Kinda get the same problem. I use memorex, but it only erases 2.2 gig I don't get it. My A04 has the 1.32 firmware, could that cause this?? I am using Primo DVD to do the erase, is there another DVD prog. that might work better?

  11. ive bought a new p.c and got the dvr104 drive preisntalled, i read on the pioneer website that this drive needs its firmware to be updated because it can cause the actual drive to malfunction and unreparable, maybe you should check the site out, its a possiblity that your drive can be faulty, but my firmware was already updated and have had no problems burning...
check out for more info.... im not taking responsibility for this, it is only for information purposes...(gotta protect myself, innit)
