I have been trying to convert Tombstone(16:9) to VCD for about a week with same results. Picture on TV has the borders and takes up the screen the way it should but looks skinny and tall. I am using Smartripper, DVDAVI and TMPGEnc plus 2.59. Here are the settings for TMPGEnc.

    Video stream setting:
    MPEG-1
    352x240
    16:9 525 line (NTSC)
    29.97fps
    2-pass VBR
    1150
    0(automatic)
    High quality(slow)

    Video source setting:
    interlace
    Top field first (field A)
    16:9 525 line NTSC

The video arrange method is something i have been changing, thinking that it is the problem. I tried Full screen, Full screen (keep aspect ratio) and i am trying full screen (keep aspect ratio 2) tonight. I want my final picture to be 16:9. If there is something that i am doing wrong please help. Tks

I have seen plenty of guides that talk about encoding 4:3 movies but none about 16:9. I am not trying to change it, I want to keep it at 16:9.
    Someone please help!!!!!!!!!

Try setting the Aspect Ratio under the Video Tab to 4:3 (525 Lines) NTSC. Also, VCD doesn't use Interlace so set the Video source type to Non-interlace (progressive) and the Field order to Bottom field first (field B). You could also try setting the Source aspect ratio to 1:1 (VGA) if it's DivX.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P
