  1. I don't usually use divx or grab movies encoded as such, so I'm not real
familar with the codec, only mpeg1 and 2.

Anyhow.. I loaded the file in DivxFix and did a check for errors:

Corrupted data detected at frame 75221
    Error offset: 212632174 ($0CAC826E)
    Done.

thats what it came back with.

Virtual Dub gives this error on loading:
invalid AVI file: chunk at 277429570 extends outside of parent by 38868916 bytes

Anyhow, is there anyway to repair the file or is it just toast?

    thanks

  2. I got the latest Virtual Dub (p4 only version) and it was able to load the file and repair it. However the audio is screwed, theres this constant underwater sound.

Looks like the file is prolly just sookered.

What I do before I run my DivX file through DivFix is:

I run it through VirtualDub, check to see if it has bad frames, I take the bad frames out if there are any, and then I save out a new AVI. After that, I run it through DivFix and Rebuild the Index. If your file has bad frames and you rebuild the index with DivFix, it will make the file MUCH smaller than it originally was and you will receive many errors in DivFix.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

  5. It didn't detect any bad frames.

The voice audio is clear, however, about -2dB down from the voice is this constant slow gurggling sound. So I think the audio file is pretty close to beyond repair.

However, kingjohns guide worked great for fixing the video.

    thanks guys.

I tried the virtual dub and even tossing it in cool edit pro and using it's
noise reduction filters.. didn't help. It's sufficiently corrupt, lol.

however, thanks for the help and btw, nice guides.
