Hello,
Browsing through this forum the name "Cendyne" caught my attention.
People are saying Cendyne 105 is same as Pioneer 105 drive?
Now i'm really confused. I did a search on Cendyne but i couldn't get any accurate answer for this drive. This is really important to me because i will buy a new drive pretty soon. And i have to decide either to buy Sony DRU500a or Pioneer DVR-A05.
Can you guys explain me what "Cendyne" drive really is?
Thanx
Bayar

Ok,
But why is it called "Cendyne" instead of "Pioneer"?
Did "Cendyne" acquire "Pioneer"?
Does "Pioneer" still produce the legendary A05 drive?
Do you know the reason behind the repackaging?

Cendyne is a company like HI-VAL that buys up "units" from major manufacturers repackages them and puts them out with no usable tech support whatsoever. Somehow, they dicsount the item...but sometimes its a defective one you have to return to the to get the good one .

Pioneer is also an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). They sell their drive to other companies who repackage them under different names. For example, Apple uses the Pioneer drives, which they have renamed Superdrives, in their Macs.
