  1. I'm making a backup of a movie that is less than 4.7 Gigs (even though the original disc was 7 gigs, without all the extras it's small enough to fit on one disc). If I have the VOB of the movie, am I ready to burn it to a disc? Or do I need to seperate the video and audio streams then recompile in DVD Maestro? All the guides talk about seperating them, but I'm not sure what to do if they're already together... why take them apart just to put them back together? And if I can burn with the VOB alone, can I use a basic burning program like Nero to author the disc, or do I need a different program? Thanks in advance!!

  2. put all the vobs in 1 directory. rename them vts_01_1.vob etc. open ifoedit and create IFO files. then do a "get vts vectors". use the display mode to make sure the video plays fine. then burn the video_ts directory using nero.

    That sounds hard.
    Or try this:
Remember 4.7gb is in all reality 4.38gb and if you are new try R/W first.

    Decrypter/Nero

Many ways to do the same

  4. What if I already have the IFO file also? I have:
    vts_01_0.ifo
    vts_01_1.vob
    vts_01_2.vob
    vts_01_3.vob
    vts_01_4.vob
    vts_01_INFO.txt
    vts_01.d2v
    vts_01.idx
    vts_01.lst

Do I still need to open IFOEdit and create the files, or is this everything I need? Also, do I put all these files in the video_ts folder? Does anything need to go in the audio_ts folder? If I put these files in the video_ts folder, is that going to maintain the chapters (because I believe that's part of the VOB file, right). I'm new to this and slightly confused what direction to take. Thanks again!!

USE THE LINK I ADDED ABOVE.
    STEP 1]
    Open DVD Decrypter,
    Under mode tab select file,
Under edit tab select main movie
Make sure you also select the 4 other files listed below
[It is a must to have all files, and names in UPPERCASE]. DVD Decrypter does this some rippers do not.
Choose a Source drive and destination folder [HIT THE BIG BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM]
    Other files needed
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.VOB
These as well as the main movie files DVD Decrypter selected for you automatically, rip to previously made folder.

    Added instructions before step2
BEFORE YOU START Be advised Nero is always messing around with this program and I have heard some complaints lately.
I have upgraded each time now 5.10 and have never had a problem, just lucky I guess.
    [I DON'T USE THE F$REE DEMO] I pay for soft/shareware!
***NERO [MAKE SURE UNDER FILE, PREFERENCES, EXPERT FEATURES TAB,
ENABLE IMAGE RECORDING FOR ALL SUPPORTED RECORDER FORMATS IS CHECKED] or no DVD support

    STEP 2]
Open Nero, select New in file menu, if it does not open with NERO or you have that stupid WIZARD turned on, In the first drop down select DVD, then in the mode tree on the left choose DVD video, In ISO tab select Joliet; in the label tab uncheck [Also use the ISO9660 text for Joliet]. Again at the top of the label tab in the drop down choose Joliet and name volume label and volume set as desired, to the far right of the window choose NEW.
In the new Compilation that opened, double click the VIDEO_TS folder in the DVD Video browser, In the file browser find all the above mentioned files and drag them into the VIDEO_TS Folder. Go to file in main window and choose write CD. The Write CD window will open. Go to the label tab; in the drop down choose Joliet, Your named Compilation will appear in the volume label and volume set, on the right of the window hit the big button WRITE and off you go.

  6. So does that mean if I have the files I listed above but do not have the VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP, or VTS_01_0.VOB files, I am not going to be able to burn a DVD?

The BUP are simple backup-files.For a working menu, the entry points must be absolutly addressed, the original addresses don't work. Therefore you need to create new ifos (and bups).

  8. To create new IFO files and new BUP files, would I use IFOEdit? Or would I use another program to create them?

Also, is it as simple as load the VOB and have it created, or am I going to need to do a bunch of coding on something?

  9. Copying a DVD is not an easy task. I had the hardest time understanding why you took apart the VOBs only to put them back together again. The reason is that you rip a movie that was dual layer and you want to fit it as a single layer (DVD-r). Since you copied the main movie only (although its less than 4.7 gigs), the IFO files no longer work. You can fix the ifo files by two methods to play the main movie:

    1. Take existing ifo and use ifoedit to modify.

    2. Split sound and movie (demux) and remux with DVD Maestro to get new ifo files (etc.)

Try both methods and determine which one you like.

  10. Go to http://www.doom9.org/ under "The Guides", under "The ripping guides, Format specific select "DVD and miniDVD Guides". Go under IfoEdit Guides and click "Creating a DVD that contains just the main movie" and follow through. Once you're in it there are other links you might have to read.

Also, read through other related guides. One of these guides shows you how to take the VOB and remake IFO and others with IfoEdit.

Sorry, can't provide direct link to it, the address will only show http://www.doom9.org/ Have fun.

  11. hey mike, seems like ur real close...
you say u have the vob's ifo bup's right?

open ifo edit ok, with the ifo for the vob of the movie file
choose vob extras, check 5 boxes under remux, but not
remux, correct vobids, strip streams, create new ifo's(this
is best part)this will create video_ts,ifo/bup's, now click
strip, create ur VIDEO_TS folder to save these files in,
and in 20 mins, ur files will be done, open new video_ts.ifo
click get vts sectors and whallah ur finished, use nero to burn
    try an rw 1st...
