Why I try to convert a avi file in TMPGEnc I get an error message saying cannot open file unsupported file type. I've read that this is due to missing codecs.
I've installed all the codecs recommended ie DivX 3, 4 & 5, Nimo Codec Pack etc.
I've also changed the enviromental settings in TMPGEnc making the DirectShow - 2
This will be my first VCD copy if I can get it to work. I really want this movie, so if anyone has any ideas on what the problem could be I would really appreciate some help.
Thank you
klm

Codecs can be a pain in the ass to say the least, I once installed the full nimmo codec pack and it intefered with other codecs and couldn't open anything. My advice would be to download a porgram called gspot which can be found in the tools section on this site. Put your avi file through gspot and it will tell you what codecs were used to make the file and you can download them accordingly. You may need to remove the nimmo codec pack firstto get any new codecs to work properly.
I dunno...it might work
