  2. I currently use UVS6. I'll order the upgrade ($50) to UVS7 as soon as it hits their site.

Why? Well, 6 was so much better than 5, and I expect a jump like that from 6 to 7. Also, some things that sounded good were:

-selecting or removing multiple video segments with a new MultiCut™ tool.
-new, fast/slow motion tool slows down clips or speeds up clips
-COOL 3D 3.0 SE, included with VideoStudio 7, lets users add 3D animated titles and graphics as video overlays
-new DVD authoring tool which enables users to create sophisticated DVDs with multiple videos, dual layer menus, and first play video clips
-eliminating the need to render an MPEG file before making a DVD

Not too much out about other new features, but it's around the corner.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. This also looked promising:

"VideoStudio 7 works with a wide breadth of file formats, now including Windows Media Video as well as industry-leading support for Sony MICROMV™.

With VideoStudio 7, Ulead is also the first software company to fully support the DVD -VR* and DVD +RW Video Recording formats as well as leverage their "on-disc" editing capabilities. Now, consumers, who own camcorders that record to DVD or DVD set top recorders, finally have a way to capture, edit (directly on disc) and write video back in the original format. "

If UVS7 will actually open/edit/save WMV files, that will be great!
