  5. DVDxCopy works great.

    http://www.dvdxcopy.com/

The maker of vobedit and those programs like...is now on the dvdxcopy team, I think.

The only thing I am tackling is getting a smooth transition from disc one to disc two. I think I need to automatically play from the title in disc 2...but I am not excatly sure how to do this. hopefully it is easy

Make sure you follow the "remove the warning" trick for dvdxcopy if you do not want a warning at the beginning of the movie. It still works with out it.

  7. DVDXCopy! Ack! Don't get suckered into that $100 waste. It's a commercial bundle of freeware. Use the guides on my page (url in sig) to do it yourself AND get a nice sense of self-satisfaction to boot

  11. There is an easier way but it depends on the movie really.

Like Tomb Raider which I just did, the movie after stripping is like 3.3 G so I ReMpeg the Extras VOBS down to fit back in, leaving only one extra I would never watch out. The quality suffers slightly but hey they are only extras and the movie needs not to be re encoded, or re encode movie and leave extras as is, it's your choice. I kept all original english audio tracks/subs etc, making it a lot easier than the Maestro full copy way.

Then is a case of putting transcoded vobs back into original folder IfoUpdate then get VTS sectors, region free and burn... :P

I always keep the original menus (except where menu VOB is massive e.g LOTR), not too bothered about extras unless deleted scenes or cool ones and on films like this one it is that bit easier.

Harder when there lots of really good extras and movie is bigger then 4.3G, then full copy method really helps a lot. :P

    HTH.

That's nice when that happens, but the main movie itself is so often larger, like Matrix and Phantom Menace as I most recently have done.
