  1. I have several AVIs.

Some are about 80megs. Some are about 150megs.

They appear to be rougly the same quality when watching them (including full screen).

I want to know how to shrink the 150meg AVIs to about 80megs, since they seem to be about the same quality.

It *SEEMS* to me that I need to shrink the resolution a little and lower the data rate, but any input from someone else is welcome.

Here are the stats for the 80meg AVIs (as reported by WindowsXP):
    Resolution: 352x240
    Audio bitrate: 127kps
    Audio format: MPEG Layer 3
    Frame rate: 29fps
    Data rate: 54kbps
    Video sample size: 24bit
    Video compression: DivX codec

Here are the stats for the 150meg AVIs (as reported by WindowsXP):
    Resolution: 512x384
    Audio bitrate: 127kps
    Audio format: MPEG Layer 3
    Frame rate: 29fps
    Data rate: 96kbps
    Video sample size: 24bit
    Video compression: DivX codec

Open the larger file with VirtualDub. Select Video, Filters and choose the Resize filter. Set new size to 352/240 and click OK.
Select Video, Compression and select DivX5 or DivX Low Motion and click OK.
Select Video and choose Full Processing Mode.
Select Audio, choose direct stream copy. Click File and Save Segmented Avi.
    Good luck.

Everytime you encode you lose some quality.
