Im using Showbiz that came with MyDVD. I was wondering is it easier to use one big clip and and add the same big clip each time but just trim it to the new point and the the new after point each time as I work through the clip? Or instead of capturing say a 1/2 hour clip go through that half hour and capture say 30 individual clips? Which is easier or how do you guys work with the video?

  2. It depends on what the clips are.

For example for the stuff I do I usually just rip as separate clips and then author using the individual clips. For animated menus though, I tend to rip to one big file and navigate using entry-points. Of course, one drawback I noticed by using a big file is sometimes the entry-points are not where I want them to be and they'll be off by just a bit making me rip to individual files.

Also, on the rare occassion, I find that I can't rip to individual files in which case I have no choice, but to rip to a big file.

A big advantage I find in working with individual clips is that I can use them in compilation VCDs of favorite clips. For instance I can put together all of the music videos from all the VCDs I have with very little effort into 1 VCD, pop it into the player and enjoy. With a big file, I'll have to edit the file, retrieve the clip, create a separate clip and ultimately enjoy it.

So, it really depends on the situation. As a rule-of-thumb, I rip to individual files.
