Hi, I am of course a noob! What I really need to know is how to take my 4-6 home minidv movies (about 45 min each) and convert them and burn onto ONE DVDR to send our distant families.
What's the easiest way to do this?
I own nero, movie factory 2, and ulead's videostudio 6.
Thanks in advance.

Try encoding them to CVD. That should fit all your movies to one DVDR. Make sure to have the audio 48000. Your best bet is to use tmpegenc to encode your movies. Good luck.

Its all about bitrate. Work out the total length of your movies in minutes and enter that figure into a bitrate calculator set for DVDr. This will tell you the bitrate you need to encode at to fit it all on one disk.
I will warn you though that home movie footage is very difficult to encode well. All that camera shake due to hand held cameras eats up your bitrate. I would reccomend not dropping the bitrate below 4000 or even more. Split your movies across 2 disks if you have to.
