  1. How does one demux an ac3 file from a DIVX encoded avi so I can load it into DVD Maestro. I've used Virtual Dub to demux the audio and rename the file as .ac3; however, DVD Maestro still does not recognize it as a valid ac3 file and won't accept it. I'm not interested in re-encoding to a wav file since I want to preserve the 5.1 AC3. Thanks.

  2. I found a free-ware program called AVI-MUX GUI which did the job for me.

  3. There is another option for this.
Demux the ac3 in virtualdub, using save wav. Then rename the .wav to .ac3.
The next thing you do is download a program called BeSplit, and to make it even easier, also download a program called BeSliced that makes your job alot easier. These programs you can find on doom9.org. To fix the ac3-file (rewrite the header to ac3 type), just open up BeSliced(make sure you have it in the same folder as BeSplit) and drag the file into the window that opened, and hit fix file. Wait one minuter or so, and you will have a new fixed .ac3 file.

  4. You can run the demuxed ac3 file through ac3fix
