Ok, what's better, Ritek, or ACCU?

I've had too many coasters to continue to pay $3.00 for a DVD-/+R. I have seen some people say that ACCU work great, I have also seen people say Ritek. Which of the two are better? I know they both apparently work with the Sony Dru500a, so I'm just curious as to which ones are better. Also, have most people purchased the (-) or (+) format with either, and what burning software seems to work with Accu or Ritek? Thanks in advance for any info on this.

My Accus burned ok but when I played them back the video would pixelate, freeze, and skip in certain spots. I've since gone back to Memorex DVD+R for $2.00 each at BestBuy. These are the cheapest "name brand" that I can find at the moment (they are actually cheaper than the Ritek) and there's no shipping hassle.

Yes, the Memorex DVD-R fails the burn (even with RecordNow). I have good luck with most "name brand" DVD+R. The only DVD-R that has worked for me is Sony and TDK so far. I haven't tried the Ritek DVD+R but the Memorex DVD+R is cheaper in bulk. I'm going over to BestBuy now to buy the 50 pack for $99.

I only use ACCU in my Sony 500-UL. No coasters, after 50+ burns. Only a buck each on the net.

I did the same Memorex mistake. 2 coasters.

Fujifilm is cheaply made junk - stay away! (Best Buy)

Sony makes it a point on their website that DVD-R needs to be "DVD-R General V2.0". I notice that some of the discs have this in their description while others don't. In particular, neither the ACCU or the Ritek do (meritline.com). The Meritline house brand does, but they are more expensive.

Anybody know what V2.0 means? Is it important? I wish I could use the ACCUs. Maybe I just got a bad batch. All 25 were bad.

Has anyone had success with ACCU and not had pixelation or freezing? I'm wondering if it is your standalone RMA155. Have you tried those ACCU'S you burned in your DVD ROM? If so, is the pixelation there as well? I thought I read a couple of posts with people who used the Sony DRU500a and ACCU's and they played flawless. If anyone else has, please let me know, because I would like to order some.

Both DVD-R and DVD-RW worked in my stand alone DVD players, but I'm wondering if DVD+R and DVD+RW will work as well. What's the main difference anyways? I noticed the max burn speeds are slower.

I saw someone post that even though the DVD+Rs only burn at 2.4x that they still took less time to burn than the DVD-Rs at 4x. Is this true? How long does it take to burn a DVD-R at 4x as opposed to a DVD+R at 2.4x?

It turns out that all my ACCUs - every single one - play fine on my DVD-ROMs (SONYs). They don't play well on my DVD Players (Samsungs) - darn it.

I believe that every 'DVD-R for General' made for a long time now is V2.0

Just make sure you buy 'DVD-R for General' as opposed to 'for Authoring'. The latter is only for one specific (and expensive) 'authoring' drive.
