Absolute noobie here, aplogies if this is covered elsewhere or doesn't make sense......

I'd like to know how to convert a XviD encoded movie into Divx 3,4 or 5.

Can it be done?

Reason I'm asking is I'm trying to get the Playstation 2 MediaPlayer to play Xvid movies, but it seems it can't handle them (even though the makers say it does), what can I do to convert a Xvid into another version of DivX that the player will understand?

Easily done in virtualdub, open movie in virtualdub, in video option - full processing mode, then in video options go to compression, choose what compression u want, then in file, save as avi, give it a new filename and save
