  1. or is an MPEG-2 file necessary? Can't you just burn the ifo and vob files to a dvd disc without encoding?

  2. I would alos love to know this. I just got a dvd burner and was hopping of making some backups to watch and keep the bought copy in pristine shape.

    Any thoughts?

    You can if it's less then 4.7GB. Which most are not. Most DVD's are dual layer and can hold 9.4GB. So you have to strip, transcode or reencode.

    Ok, I was just curious. I don't have a DVD burner yet, I just wanted to know for the future. Thanks.

    have fun, buy lots of rw discs,whichever you want...
