I'm trying to figure out the best settings to use to get an animated series on DVD when I eventually get a DVD writer. My source is VHS captured with a Canopus ADVC-100. I'd like to get 13 episodes per disc, about 20 minutes each +2 minutes for the opening and ending credits so about 262 minutes per disc. I figure I'll use AC3 for the audio at either 192 or 224kbps. I'll only be able to use an average bitrate of about 2000. What other settings for NTSC will give the best quality at that bitrate? How do you set up NTSC Film with DVD? For MPEG2 I tried 23.976fps and a resolution of 352x240 non-interlaced and video looks good but plays back in fast forward, same settings with 3:2 pulldown just gives a black screen and 352x480 with 3:2 plays fine but seems to look worse than VCD NTSC Film 352x240 23.976fps and 1150CBR. How compatible is MPEG1 with DVD if you use 48khz audio?
