    Hi,

Bought myself a Sony DRU500 and tested a
Datatrack DVD-R on a Philips and Sony StandAlone DVD Reader
OptoDisc DVD-RW on a Philips and Sony StandAlone DVD Reader

and this all wouldn't play (on my patched Tokai DVD player it did play)

When trying with an INFINITI DVD+RW it worked on the Sony and Philips Player.
Since I would like to by surround system from Sony I'm wondering if I need to put all my movies on dvd+r to be able to play them on my future dvd player ...
Going to buy DVD-R PRINCO and Datawrite DVD+R to do some more testing.

Hope that I can find a media that can be playd on many dvd players ... .. .

Is there anybody who can (dis)agree that going for dvd+r is not a good choice for being able to play on new dvd players ?

    Rush

  2. Sony's Australian catalogue states that "Sony DVD players play the latest formats: DVD-Video, DVD-R/-RW as well as the latest DVD+R/+RW." This refers to the current range sold in Australia. So, if this is anything to go by, get anything that is the latest model from Sony and it will play all your discs...

Make sure you use the software supplied with the burner, as there are numerous posts about issues with Nero. I have DRU500A and have never burned a coaster with the supplied software.

    Edited:
Oh Yeah, forgot to mention - +R/+RW discs that I have burned play in 1st generation players that normally ONLY play DVD-Video discs purchased or rented from the shops. One of these 1st gen players doesn't even play VCD, let alone CD or DVD-R; but it does play my DVD+R burns
