  1. I'm new to the DVD backup scene,but very familiar to DVD2SVCD. DVD2DVD isn't as simple as anticipated. My set up is this. P3 1Ghz ...Memorex dvd burner....I have used DVDXCOPY..DVDCloner...DVD2DVD option in DVD2SVCD and burned with Nero and Roxio. In Roxio I was able to slow burn speed down to 2x..Also I have used DVD Decryter...Ifoedit...pretty much all the programs you can think of. My home DVD is a GE 5803P which according to the specs will play DVD+R/+RW with no problem...but I keep getting glitches or blocky scenes at some point in every movie so far. from what I am reading I'm not the only one to experience this. The media I have tried so far is Memorex +R and +RW,,, Verbatum +R,,,and Fuji +R. At this point I'm ready to put this burner on the table at the next yard sale I have. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated by this burner before the hammer falls on it.

  2. @abelair55, you seem to vere off to several subjects, so it is hard to understand what you are asking. From what I gather, you seem to of used 4 or 5 different programs, but no matter which one you use, you get a blocky picture. I haven't used DVDXCOPY, but it is apparently a sinch. If you are getting that blockyness with all the methods, it is probably your standalone DVD PLAYER. It is possible it could be your media as well. Experiment with different media in the RW format so you can test it first. Do you get the same blockyness on your DVD ROM? If so, it could be any of the above things mentioned, but it could also be your burner. The only way you will find out is with experimenting, but if EVERY single program you are using causes some form of blocky picture, and your DVD ROM plays the movie with a blocky picture as well, then it's probably your burner, your media, or a combination of both.

    Another thing to note is that from my experience MEMOREX DVD's SUCK! As far as the other two formats you mentioned, they are BOTH in + format. Try Verbatim (-). I think your player may not like the (+) format, but either of them should work on your DVD ROM. Then you will know for sure.

  3. I had this problem with my player when it would heat up, I installed a cooling fan and problem went away.

    Just a thought.

  4. Thanx guys. I was getting to the same conclusion of it being the home DVD. They play fine in my rom drive...but glitchy in the home player. the cooling fan is definitely a thought...it does seem always happen in the middle of movie after being played awhile. thanx for the ideas!!

  5. Hi there... I have this same problem FOREVER with my Sony dru-500 !!!

    Tried several media types (MMORE, Primedisc, Princo etc ) and only a few copys that I made are not giving me problems;

    I'm now using DVD2DVDR and ifoedit and to burn RecordNow.

    I too tought that was a problem with my Mustek player but all my friends that have Philips Grundig etc seem to have the same problem, I bought yesterday a Samsung s224 because one of my friends have it and says that he as no problems reading my discs.

    Anyway... I want to be able to make discs that will play in (almost) all the players !!!! .. .. all my Christmas gifts were movies in dvd-r !!

    I wonder why few people have this problem, and please let us try to get to a conclusion fast !

    Sorry about my English (?) .
