    Hi

I recently burnt a movie that I downloaded from the Internet after converting it to MPEG-2 Format on to a DVD for playback on my standalone Philips DVP-3007 model DVD player. It plays for about an hour or so and then suddenly stops to return to the menu screen. On the menu screen I say some garbage letters. However, the same disc plays to the end without any problem on my PC (thru WMP). I tried to play the DVD on another DVD player (same Philips DVP-3007 model). Same problem was encountered.

I did not try on any other DVD player.

Is this a problem with the DVD player? or is it some problem with the movie that I downloaded or is it problem with the format (MPEG-2).

The original format of the movie is AVI which unfortunately is not supported by my DVD player. Hence the conversion to MPEG-2.

I have other movies in MPEG-2 format (also downloaded from Internet) which play without any problem.

Please throw some light on this and suggest an alternative.

    Please give more information.

Did you convert to a mpg file? Or to a dvd-video? What did you convert and burn with? Tried different dvd media?

The downloaded movie was in AVI (which is not supported by my Philips DVD Player).
I therefore converted it using Any Video Converter to MPG-2 Format.
I then burnt the MPG-2 format movie to DVD using Ashampoo Burning Studio.
I tested the burnt DVD on my PC and it played fine till the end. Excellent quality.
I played the same DVD on my DVD Player. Played fine for about an hour. Then stopped.

I have some other movies that I downloaded from the Internet and followed the same procedure. They are running fine till the end on my DVD player.

Check the length of the non-working title against one's which do fine ... could be the player has an issue reading towards the end of disc.

Better still, use AVStoDVD to encode your AVI and author it into a proper DVD Video structure, then burn this to quality media using Imgburn. Chances are high that you will have much more success and get a better quality disc.
