Apex Ad1200, Not playing cdr-cdrw, vcds, svcds anymore???

Hello,
I was watching xXx last night, i just burnt a copy of it in SVCD format, and after the first disc was done, i went to put the second disc into the player (Apex Ad 1200) and it wouldnt load up...it said "no disc"...i thought that perhaps the disc was burnt incorrectly, so i tried a few others, and every single burnt one that i had tried, even ones that had worked previously, dont work anymore... the same thing comes up : "no disc"...it was weird because this happend just all of a sudden...i even tried playing some burnt music cds and stuff, and they didnt work either...i was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem...and can help me out...much appreciated

maybe it overheated or possibly dust buildup?

Have you tried a DVD since this happened? It may have just "died" on you.

RE possible dust buildup....i dont think thats possible since the dvd player is just a week old....and yes i have tried playing copied vcds, svcds, cds etc...since it happend, but the same still keeps occurring...any more suggestions...i was thinking perhaps something to do with the settings or something...but i didnt tweak them at all...this is so frustrating!

This happened to me with my Pioneer, after much panicking I bought a disc cleaner kit. It's working again. Maybe yours was just sitting around on a shelf for a long time before you bought it. Try cleaning it, good luck!

I tried to use a cd cleaner, but this didnt help...its weird though, cuz rental dvds (as well as others that arent copied) still work fine...its like there is no disc activity when there is a burnt one in there...is it at all possible that some sort of trojan or something was encrypted into one of the movie files, that caused this or something?

Since MPEGs can't contain any executable code, the answer to your question is NO.

It is possible that the CD reading part of your drive broke. Have you tried any audio CDs (burnt or stamped)?

In any case, if the player is new, the simplest thing you can do is get a refund.
